Destruction of Epic Proportion

My heart goes out to Japan right now!  One of my sisters text me this morning to tell me of the earthquake / tsunami in Japan... Her text read "Japan just had an 8.9 earthquake and a tsunami with waves as high as 30 ft. - signs of the times".

Now, for those of you who are not religious / spiritual or the like, please dont think I'm trying to impose any of my beliefs on you!  I can only speak from my knowledge and understanding of the things I've learnt and this is how I feel:

Our (Christian) belief is that the world as we know it will come to an end one day and God will show His face again!  There will be a day of judgment and we all will be held accountable for ourselves.  The Holy Book which I read teaches or prophesies that certain things will happen before the actual end of the world... things like Earthquakes of Epic proportions, like Tsunamis (great floods), like birds falling out of the skies (seen many different places around the globe recently), fishes showing up dead, severe climate changes and many other things about which I'm sure I have no clue  or probably have even taken for granted. 

Now, I'm no preacher or expert on any subject but I'm sure as hell wishing that we would all realise how "co-incidental" these things are to what the Bible prophesies.  I dont know if it is true or not, but my faith tells me that it is (and just in case it is true, at least I can spiritually prepare for it).

But how does a person prepare to face such tragedy?  How do you prepare to die?  Maybe by making right, the wrongs in your life!  Maybe by telling the people in your life how much you love them and maybe by going the extra yard (or mile) to make them know it!  Maybe by seeking forgiveness (from those you've wronged or from your Maker) for all the things you've done that were considered wrong.  There are so many things we can do to help ourselves get one step closer to being pure.  Whatever we do, we should start right away.... dont be like me and put off things that are really important! 

The reality is, whether we die in a natural disaster or someone decides its our time and kills us, or whether we age till death... it all remains the same!  We need to make our hearts right for death and since we dont know the time or hour of our demise, then we should start now!
